摘要
Motorsports are one of the last male domains — a checkered ceiling 18-year-old Sophia Flörsch is out to break. Her dream is to become Formula 1 world champion. And she won't let her crash in a Formula 3 race in Macau slow her down.
Sophia Flörsch was just four years old the first time she got behind the wheel of a go-cart. She was nine when she heard for the first time that girls couldn't hold their own with the guys in motorsports - a bias that she's since disproven on the track. Women, she says, can do anything, whether climb Mount Everest or become German chancellor - or Formula 1 world champion. In November, 2018, in a Formula 3 race in Macau, she hit a wall at 270 km/h. She was on the operating table for 11 hours and in rehab for weeks. Even so, she's determined to carry on. In spring, 2019, she returned to the track. A report by Janine Berger and Theresa Dahlhoff.
