It's crucial to better understand the nickel mining industry to learn how Tesla may eventually fit in. Tesla desperately needs more nickel to be mined and produced in an environmentally friendly fashion, ASAP.
Nickel is the most important part of the NCA 811 battery cell, making up around 25% of the total cost of the cell. Sourcing nickel in a cost effective fashion would go a long way in reducing EV battery costs.
We'll take a look at nickel sulfides vs. nickel laterites and weigh the sulfide ores and laterite ores pros and cons. You'll have a much better understanding of the different class of nickel and the nickel industry at large - where the most reserves are geographically and who the biggest mining companies are.
We will close it out with talking briefly about investing in nickel. There are a handful of nickel mining stocks to keep an eye on, but most of them are not pure nickel investments.
