Turning Two Scoops on the Lathe - 2015 Kitchen Utensil Build Challenge

This is my first attempt at multi-axis turning: a couple of scoops/spoons from walnut and paduak. Multi-axis turning is really an art form of woodworking in itself. It breaks the door wide open from traditional solids of revolution to far more interesting, complicated, free form shapes. And it is really a test of your imagination, because the geometry associated with this type of turning is actually quite complex.
I got the idea for this project from a turner I follow on instagram by the name of Phil Irons. What I made is fairly similar to the caddy spoons he makes, but hopefully not a complete ripoff. My favorite part of this design is that you end up with two spoons, or in my case, I think of it like a free second chance in case I make a mistake first one that can't be recovered from.
