Yardarm & ShotSpotter: Tracking guns & gunshots to make our streets safer

发布时间 2014-09-16 19:40:58    来源

摘要

Today Jason tackles street safety with two companies taking different, albeit critical and complementary, approaches. First up is Yardarm that tracks the geolocation of officers’ firearms in real time and alerts central command if a weapon has been un-holstered and where it is pointing. Second is ShotSpotter, used in over 80 cities around the world, whose sensors monitor and analyze gunshots. SpotShotter examines thousands of explosive incidents per day, and recently verified the shots from a recording in Ferguson, MO, that occurred when Michael Brown died. Jim Schaff from Yardarm and James Beldock from ShotSpotter walk Jason through demos of their incredible systems and discuss the challenges and opportunities of implementing technology for community safety.
